for everyone
Nida - Laura's childhood (summer) town. Kinda Key West of Lithuania (sans gay crowd), situated on a 2-3km Curonian Spit between Baltic sea and Curonian Lagoon.

I guess on our way back we made the same stops as Rosvaldas did [more pics].

I'm sorry to correct you but Piliakalnis=pyle+kalna, so it's artificial hill, castle is optional...
vilius wrote on Jul 21, '06, edited on Jul 21, '06
I must note that most of them are thought to be natural formations although they do look kinda square. I'm sure the word "pilis" derives from "pilti" and there's definitely a posibility of some acient belief that gods poured these hills AOT word being a proof that men built them as pyramids of some kind.

Actually Petra is right, as far as our education in school provided, piliakalnis - not natural, man made hill..:P
petra1 wrote on Jul 21, '06
At school they told that people made piliakalniai when they were pagonys so they could sacrifice for their gods...
