i learned about some exit signs out there in public spaces which are based on radioactive tritium. They have a half-life of ~12years and manage to light up a sign with enough luminocity to be seen indoors.

Marathon pilot watches have tritium in them. So wear something nuclear around your wrist. BTW - These watches for the price are bad ass. If you're a goverment employee, you can get them for $65. For the rest of us, there's eBay.
